In the early days of The Martha Zoller Show, the tag line was, “Around the Corner or Around the World—We’re talking about it. A lot has happened since then and the world is smaller and at the same time farther apart. Does that sound philosophical?
This week, we had a big surprise in a state senate race. The incumbent decided at the last minute not to run for re-election and kept it close to the vest and when she went in to qualify with her husband at her side, they came out of qualifying with her husband qualifying for the seat. This was about an hour and fifteen minutes before qualifying ended. Somehow, a challenger got in his car and got to the capital and qualified before the deadline.
We talked to Drew Echols and Josh Clark who are running for this seat. I asked them about this timeline but also what their vision is. Drew Echols is clearly the frontrunner in this race. He’s got high name ID, his business has been active in the community for over 100 years and throughout his life he’s been involved in charitable, business, community and volunteer operations in Hall County and Northeast Georgia. Josh Clark is a former state legislator and U. S. Senate candidate who was escorted into qualifying by the controversial Sen. Colton Moore.
Then we looked at the week in politics with Bill Crane and we call that Crane’s Corner. Finally, Dr. Roger Gewolb tells us what we can do if anything to unite the GOP and since he lives in the UK, we got his take on the Princess of Wales picture controversy. Honestly, with ads every day about phones that can allow you to edit any picture you want and as far back as supermodel Cindy Crawford telling a magazine they had to airbrush her Sport Illustrated photos, it seems like a non-issue. Everytime I go in to get my headshot updated, I give strict instructions to make me look as good as possible—does that make me a fraud?
