USAID, What Went Wrong?

Some Background

When I worked from Sen. David Perdue from 2015 to 2018 on the official side, for part of that time he was the Chair of the Committee over USAID. As a fiscal conservative, my initial response was this was a department to look at. Over time in the 2015 and 2016 time frame, I met with groups and many military personnel and the message was the same. The money spent through USAID was needed for things like water systems, shelter, healthcare or agriculture to keep American “boots off the ground” in these volatile areas. Current Secretary of State Marco Rubio voiced that mission.
