I’ve been through a few shutdowns. One as an employee of the federal government and a few as a pundit. It’s important to keep clear that all federal employees got a paycheck on the 1st of October, so there is a window of opportunity until October 15th to get this fixed without anyone missing a paycheck. Before Graham-Rudman we didn’t have official shutdowns. The idea was the Congress would get to a funding plan so the government would be funded until they did. Now it’s a political tool—and frankly, most people who aren’t accepting the inevitable—that the government will get funded—are acting like tools.
And for you Dems who voted against the clean CR who are simultaneously saying “Trump is an Authoritarian,” you just gave him the power you said you didn’t want him to have. If I were advising the Democratic Party, and by that I mean Jon Ossoff, I’d tell them to get some leaders who aren’t from New York or California and try to run your party another way. I believe that Ossoff wanted to be a different kind of Democrat—but he needs the group money, so he caved. He could have been a leader in this situation—but alas, he just towed the line.
Today, we talked to AG Chris Carr who I am supporting to Governor. He’s the combination of the Isakson way of getting things done, the economic prowess to keep Georgia number one in the business world and he’s been a tough on crime AG. He is the total package for our next governor.
Then, Bill Crane on the shutdown and another progressive getting in on the Dem side for Georgia governor.
David Bossie of Citizens United and Rep. Buddy Carter on the government shutdown and what it means for you.
